Anderson County Road Study

Scope
A comprehensive inventory and analysis of all county maintained roads was conducted in order to develop a systematic approach to administering and maintaining Anderson County’s 1,200 mile long county road system.  The project was funded by a grant from the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety Programs.

The project’s goal was to develop accurate information concerning road miles, accident locations, road conditions, and the expenditure of county road improvement funds in accordance with such considerations.  Specific project objectives were:

1.  To provide a detailed, updated map of the county maintained road
     system.

2.  Devise and provide a system by which any change in the road
     system will be included on the official county maintained road
     map.

3.  Provide a complete inventory of the conditions of county
     maintained roads at this time.

4.  Provide a cost estimate on funds needed to bring county
     maintained roads up to expressed county standards.

5.  Identify hazardous or unsafe conditions on county maintained
     roads in a logical, cost effective manner
