Textube Tech Center

Project
New Tech Center
for Textube Corporation

Client
Textube Corporation
Greer, South Carolina

Scope
In 1996, Textube Corporation commissioned Design South to design office and manufacturing facilities to support the development of their new high-tech Creform Material Handling System.  The new Tech Center serves as a key focal point for the overall Textube Campus.

Recognizing the cultural background and technological expertise of our Client, the approximately 12,800 square foot Japanese-owned office building and its surrounding campus are oriented and designed along specific axial alignments.  Each axis is strategically placed to respect the projections of the existing facility and the sun's path of travel  thereby yielding important guides regarding glazing and opening locations.  A grand landscape stair leads to a barrel-vaulted translucent canopy introducing and emphasizing the building’s main entry.   Other vaulted canopies act similarly throughout the site.

The new building houses technical demonstration and training areas for client participation and instruction, open office areas for technical and sales personnel, conference rooms, and support and break areas for both administrative and plant employees.  The building concept is intended to express Textube’s cutting edge industrial design and production technology in a high-tech manufacturing environment.  Site work and grading, utility connections, storm drainage systems, parking lot additions, driveways, sidewalks, and related appurtenances including retaining walls, steps, ramps, and walkway canopies strengthen the overall campus design.
