Project
New
Manufacturing Plant
for Textube Corporation
Client
Textube
Corporation
Greer, South Carolina
Scope
Textube
Corporation’s initial design steps triggered a multi-phased campus
rehabilitation accomplished over the following five years.
The new 30,000 square foot (300’ x 100’) manufacturing
building and its adjacent 640 square foot equipment building are steel
framed with insulated metal wall panels and metal roof.
The new Creform Manufacturing Plant required versatility
in storage and expandability to adjust to the advancements in today’s
technology. In fact, the
key performers in the building’s daily function are two new highly
technological production machines extending 180 feet in length,
producing a coated pipe product at the rate of 100 feet per minute.
Ease and efficiency of movement throughout the manufacturing
process from product production to assembly, packaging, short-term
storage, and final shipping were key to the overall building design.
A band of clerestory windows caps the manufacturing building
providing an even wash of natural light throughout the interior thereby
enhancing the work environment for Textube employees and aiding in
production activity. A
3,000 lb. capacity bridge crane operates over 2/3 of the building width
and travels the entire length providing versatile access for both
material and shipment. Other building features include an industrial concrete floor
designed to support the highly sensitive production equipment, a rack
supported storage system with integral crane, three loading docks (two
at truck bed height with mechanical leveling and restraining devices),
and a complete card access security system controlling all gates and
doors throughout the complex. A
canopy designed for forklift traffic connects the new manufacturing
building with its existing counterpart.
