Fiber Network Overview

The fiber network is a collection of fiber cables, fiber strands, and fiber terminals that have a defined connectivity. Each fiber terminal will have a user interface that allows a user to view or edit the connectivity at the selected fiber terminal. The fiber network will provide several tools to help daily management of the fiber plant.

Fiber Trace Overview

Beginning in January 2005, the "Fiber Network Trace" tool will be able to trace a physical strand from a service area switch to a termination point along the network. When a strand is traced the trace tool will return information about the path of the selected strand. The result of the trace will included all the cables and terminals where the strand is contained and the associated circuit to the strand.
